Three Areas of Service for Student Development

This page provides a short overview of the three areas of service that are included in the job description for counselors. A more detailed explanation of how this is presented to the students is found in the curriculum guide at each building.
At Shook Elementary, Ms. Kleeman visits each classroom and presents lessons that are age appropriate and developmentally pertinent to the student population.
Personal and Social Development
GC1: Understanding self as an individual and as a member of diverse
local and global communities.
GC2: Interacting with others in ways that respect individual and group
differences.
GC3: Applying personal safety skills.
Academic Development
GC4: Applying skills needed for educational achievement.
GC5: Applying the skills of transitioning between educational levels.
GC6: Developing and monitoring personal educational plans.
CareerDevelopment
GC7: Applying career exploration and planning skills in the achievement of
life career goals.
GC8: Knowing where and how to obtain information about the world of work
and post-secondary training education.
GC9: Applying employment readiness skills and the skills for on-the-job
training.
