The Rewards of Reading

Children whose families read with them have better language and literacy skills in school and the bonds that are made with children when being read to help them feel loved, comforted and secure. Like most families, you want to read with your children, but somehow days can go by without sitting down with them and opening book.  The key is to make it a priority.  Here are several suggestions to help your children improve their reading skills.

Fifteen minutes a day can change their lives.

Always have a book on hand no matter where you are.

Focus on their interests.

Ask them questions while you're reading.

Be a patient listener

Get everyone involved.

As the weather starts to warm, many students will want to wear flip flops.  The safest type of shoe to wear at school is a closed toe shoe with socks.  Numerous injuries can occur from wearing flip flops.  First of all, the growing foot is not properly supported.  There can also be twisted ankles and cuts from running and slipping out of the flip flop.  Broken toenails from playing kickball or just accidentally getting stepped on also occur.  They can also get blisters, just like when wearing shoes without socks.  Flip flops break easily when running and playing and we do not have extras.  There is no way for us to repair a flip flop either.  If they break, we will have to call you to bring in another pair of shoes.

School Lunch and Breakfast

We all know how hectic mornings can be for a family. Please remember that we have a warm breakfast and lunch available to all children every day.

Safety Issues

Make sure you and your child are following safety procedures at the crosswalk areas before and after school.

Our school resource officer wants to make sure everyone is being safe.Make sure your children are buckled up and/or in car seats before you leave campus.

Transportation changes need to be in the office no later than 2:15.  Notes must be written, delivered to the classroom, and shared with the teacher and student to make sure each child goes home where they are supposed to each day.  Please do NOT leave a message or e-mail a transportation change.  You need to talk to someone in the office or write a note with any transportation changes.
