PTSG Meeting Minutes
Thursday, September 1, 2011 6:30-8:15pm
- President Rachael Ryder called the meeting to order.
- The Secretary’s report was motioned for approval by Missy Pickel, Kyla Case seconded. The report was approved.
- The Treasurer’s report included the August statement & the 2010-2011 statement. It was motioned for approval by Jenifer Smith and seconded by Ashley Trout. The report was approved.
- Rachael read a thank you note from Hubble librarian Amy Bledsoe.
- A sign up sheet to help clean up our storage space was passed around. Julie discussed the need for shelves. She will look into donations for wood & asked the group for their approval to spend $50 if needed. The date for clean up has not been set.

Committee Reports
- Party at the Pool-Rachael reported that approximately 175 people were in attendance. PTSG served hot dogs, chips, drinks, & cookies, plus admission to the pool for $3. We raised $260.00.
- Spirit Wear- DeLisa & Missy talked about some new ideas for Spirit Wear including knee high socks, stocking hats, pajama pants, & hair bows. A sign up sheet was passed around for volunteers to help brainstorm ideas.
- CHAMPS-CHAMPS is off & running this year. The workshop had good attendance & new CHAMPS shirts are available for its volunteers.
- Box Tops for Education-Rachael spoke about the competition beginning today at the Jr. High. They have set a goal of $5,000 to be earned in the 2 months with plans to use the funds for technology. In lieu of small cut outs, giant thermometers will be used to track their progress. A sign up sheet was passed around to be on the Box Tops committee. The 3 elementary schools will have a 3 month long competition November - January.
- Homeroom Parents-Rachael reminded everyone of the dates for the Homeroom Parents Orientation to be held at each elementary this year.
- PTSG Rummage Sale-Julie will be heading up a rummage sale on September 29, 30, & October 1. A sign up sheet was passed around for volunteers. Anyone who has items to donate can call Julie at 859-2233.
- Community Costume Bizarre-Plans are under way for the 2nd annual costume bizarre. A sign up sheet was passed around. Costumes will start being collected on October 3rd. The time this year will be shortened to 2 hours instead of 3.
- Light Bulb Team-Jennifer will be heading up a committee to come up with new ideas for PTSG. A sign up sheet was passed around.
9.Holiday Shoppe-Last year PTSG teamed up with the Penguin Patch to create an opportunity for the students of Marshfield to shop for gifts for their loved ones. After lots of feedback, we have decided to create our own shop this year. Melissa sent a sign up sheet around for volunteers to help plan & run it.
10. Original Works-We will once again be offering Original Works. Last year MJHS was included with great success. Kim Barlow will continue being the committee chair. A sign up sheet was passed around for those interested in helping collect & distribute final products.
Requests
- Laurabeth Smith and Lisa Spurling, 5th grade teachers, requested dry erase boards with trays for their classrooms. The cost will be $100 for each from Office Depot. This request was approved.

Presentations
- Julie Hampton, principal of Hubble, was on hand to meet everyone and tell us about herself. She is very excited to work with PTSG.
- Sandy Smalley presented PTSG with a check from the NJROTC program. After many years at Marshfield the program closed due to lack of government funding. Commander Terry Laird, Sergeant Larry Shultz, & their cadet’s chose PTSG to receive the remainder of their funds totaling $3,914.17.
- Rick & Marlene Pierce of Marshfield donated $200 to PTSG. Their awareness of our group peaked last year when our Community Costume Bizarre was featured on KY3 news. The group voted to earmark the $200 received for the Bizarre.
- Marshfield Chiropractic is offering all Marshfield school district employees and their families a full exam with x-rays if needed for $15 during the month of September.
Door prizes-We will hold 3 door prize drawing this year. September, January, & May.
- Jennifer Williams won a new PTSG shirt.
- Missy Pickel won a candle warmer.
- Melanie Brown took home a book called Mom-isms.
- Alison Henry was the winner of 2 buffets & drinks from Hunan Garden.
- Sandy Smalley won a lunch tote from 31 courtesy of Ali Hyde.
- Becky Simmons took home a $15 gift card for a pedicure from Beyond Basics School of Cosmetology.
