VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECKS
All adults wishing to volunteer in the classrooms or buildings, on field trips, for class parties, at sports practices or sporting events, or anyplace where they may have contact with the children are required by the state to have a background check completed. The district is not allowed to accept background check results from other entities, these checks must be completed by our district.
If you have not had a background check completed by the Marshfield school district, please request a Volunteer Background Check packet from any of the district buildings. To have a background check done, the Central Office must have signed copies of the Volunteer Application Form for the current school year, the Volunteer Requirement form and the Confidentiality Agreement. Until all three forms are on file in the Central Office, a background check cannot be requested from the state. Once the background check results have been returned, a process that takes approximately 3-5 days, a letter will be mailed to you informing you of your approval status. Once a successful background check has been completed, you may begin volunteering for the district at any time.
If you have had a background check completed by the Marshfield school district in the past and filled out a Volunteer Application Form for the previous school year, a Volunteer Application Form for the current school year must be completed to be able to add your name to the volunteer list. This is required by state law to assure that our students are protected at all times. These forms can be obtained from any of the district building offices and must be on file with the Central Office prior to volunteering for the current school year.
We thank you in advance for your interest in volunteering for the Marshfield R-1 School District. If you have any questions concerning the background check process or your results, please contact Jennie Ruth at (417)859-2120.
