FROM MRS. HAMPTON PRINCIPAL

    FEBRUARY

Welcome to 2012 at Hubble Elementary!  We are so happy to be back to school and are looking forward to a great semester.

We have a busy month ahead of us and are hoping to see you at some of the events we are having. I believe the more opportunities your child can see us working in partnership, the more chances of success in education for your child.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or your child's teacher.

HUBBLE’S HELPING HEROES

We would like to send a special “THANK YOU” to Webster County Masons for donating $400 to help pay the transportation costs for the first grade field trip that we will be attending in February.

Hubble is very blessed to have hard-working, dedicated volunteers.  We would like to send a special “THANK YOU” to the Hubble Parents who have spent numerous hours updating and keeping up with the Secret Garden.  It is a great outdoor resource for our students!  We would also like to thank all the helping hands that have worked on the outdoor classroom through the years.  We know it would not be where it is today without the solid foundation that was put into it in the past!

The Marshfield Community Foundation granted $750 to Hubble Elementary to be used on books for our leveled library!  These books will help allow students to read books in guided reading groups and their ability level in each and every classroom.

St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Conway and the Christian Women's Group in Marshfield made a monetary donation to our school's milk fund to help with children in need.  We would like to say "THANK YOU" to all members for being willing to help those who need assistance

SNOW DAYS

In case of a missed school day due

to bad weather, the Marshfield

School District will be using a

program called School Messenger

to contact families.  Make sure

your current information is on file

in the office so that you can be

reach.

 HEALTH ALERT!!
A REMINDER FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE

The winter months are often associated with colds, flu, strep throat and respiratory infections. School attendance is not recommended when a child is ill. Please keep your child at home if he or she:

 has a fever of 100⁰ or greater. He/she should be free of fever for 24 hours without  fever-reducing medications. Temperatures that are normal in the morning will often be elevated by the afternoon.

 is vomiting or has continuous diarrhea.

 has a persistent cough.

 has a rash all over the body.

 has strep throat. Children may return to school 24 hours after antibiotic treatment is begun and if the child is fever free. The antibiotic treatments must continue for 10 days.

By following these guidelines, you can help speed your child’s recovery and prevent the spread of illness to other students.

COLD WEATHER IS HERE!!

When you send your child to

school in the morning, please

 make sure he/she is dress

appropriately for the

weather.

It is our policy to not go

outside for recess if the

temperature or wind chill

is less than 32.

We keep lost and found

items in the cafeteria by

the stage.

Make sure your child’s

first and last name are on

his/her personal items

 so they can be claimed

 if missing.

        Tips for Students

Riding the Bus

Always speak quietly on the bus so the driver will not be distracted.  Always be silent when a bus comes to a railroad crossing so the driver can hear if a train is coming.

Never throw things on the bus or out the windows.Keep the aisles clear at all times. Feet should be directly in front of you on the floor and bookbags should be kept on your lap.

Never play with emergency exits. Large instruments or sports equipment should not block the aisle or emergency exits. If there is an emergency, listen to the driver and follow instructions.

Hands should be kept to yourself at all times while riding on the bus.  Fighting and picking on others creates a dangerous bus ride.
